Patrick G. Dickey land grant and plat, 1843.

This collection consists of a land grant for a 40-acre lot, Lot 117, 21st District, 2nd Section, in Cherokee County deeded to Patrick G. Dickey of Peterson's District, Burke County, dated June 22, 1843. The land was granted by Georgia governor Charles J. McDonald. Plat and pendant seal are attached.

Robert Flournoy (1763-1825) was born in Virginia. He married Mary Willis Cobb in 1794. Flournoy was a Captain in the 1st Georgia regiment of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Charles James McDonald (1793-1860) graduated at South Carolina College in 1816 and was admitted to the bar in 1817. He served in the Georgia Assembly and was elected governor of Georgia in 1839.
